Your information and choices

Privacy Policy

I’m Amir Darzi, a photographer based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. I run amir2000.nl as my photography website. This notice explains how information is used when you browse, contact me, comment or use a private gallery.

Messages and comments

Contact messages include your name, email address, subject and message so I can reply and handle your enquiry. I use this information for my legitimate interest in answering correspondence, or to arrange or fulfil an agreement when relevant.

Blog comments ask for your name, email address and comment. Gallery comments ask for your name and comment. Comments are moderated before publication. Your chosen name and approved comment are public; blog comment email addresses are not displayed. Please avoid including private information in a public comment.

Moderation and necessary security checks support my legitimate interest in providing discussion and protecting the website against spam and abuse. Required form fields are needed to process your submission.

Private galleries

Private galleries use login details to control access to photographs, album files, saved choices and related activity records. These support client delivery and the photography agreement, alongside my legitimate interest in protecting access and resolving delivery or selection issues.

People using the same shared client login can see the gallery and its shared choices. Keep those details private. Closing access does not automatically delete photographs or records.

Cookies and visitor statistics

Necessary storage supports features such as sign-in and remembers your privacy choice for 180 days.

Google Analytics starts only after you select Accept, based on your consent. It sends usage and device information to Google to help measure visits. Decline does not prevent browsing. Change or withdraw your choice through Cookie settings in the footer. Withdrawal stops further Analytics collection by this website in that browser; it does not itself erase information already processed.

Service providers

Service providers support hosting, email storage and delivery, backups, security and visitor statistics. They handle information needed for those functions.

Contact and comment forms use Google reCAPTCHA to detect abuse. This connects to Google and involves technical information, including the request IP address and a risk-analysis cookie. See Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms.

Some services can involve processing outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Google describes its applicable adequacy and contractual safeguards in its transfer-framework information.

For additional information about current service providers, storage arrangements or international-transfer safeguards, including how to obtain a copy of relevant safeguards, please contact me.

Retention

  • Routine enquiries: 12 months after the conversation closes. Records needed for an agreement, an unresolved issue or a legal obligation are considered separately.
  • Comments: pending comments are approved or deleted within 90 days. Published comments may remain with the relevant story or gallery, subject to moderation and privacy requests.
  • Private galleries and archives/history: access follows the agreed delivery period. Closed galleries and related records are reviewed at least annually against continuing client-reference needs, unresolved issues and image-rights evidence. Unnecessary personal information is reviewed for removal or anonymisation.
  • Analytics: event-level data is set to 2 months and user-level data to 14 months, without renewal on new activity. Standard aggregate reports are treated differently.
  • Recovery copies: deleted information can remain in backups until rotation removes the copy. Hosting-managed weekly recovery copies currently rotate over six weeks; the separate photographic archive follows the review described above.

Privacy requests are handled when received, without waiting for an annual review.

Photographs of people

Some photographs are made in streets and public places. If you recognise yourself and would like an image removed, or have another privacy concern, please contact me with the image or page link. I will review your request considering your rights, the circumstances and applicable photography and freedom-of-expression rules.

Your rights and further information

Depending on the circumstances, you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your information. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests and withdraw consent where consent is used.

Use the Contact form for a request or further information. Include enough context to locate your information without sending unnecessary sensitive details. Proportionate identity confirmation may be needed. I will normally respond within one month and explain any permitted extension within that first month.
