Macro photography slows everything down.
It’s not just about getting closer
it’s about paying closer attention.
You start to notice things that would usually be lost in the background. A bigger picture becomes smaller. In this case, it was a single plant, covered in rain and frozen droplets, catching soft light on a cold winter day.
There was no plan
no tripod
no setup.
Just the right lens and a moment worth stopping for.
The droplets didn’t need a dramatic backdrop. The beauty was already there in the way water clung to each thread — repeating, refracting, reflecting. Texture became structure.
This main photo was taken using the Canon EOS R5 Mark II with the RF100mm F2.8L MACRO IS USM lens.
Settings: 1/125 sec, ISO 250, f/3.2
Enough depth to isolate form
Enough softness to keep it quiet.

This second shot was taken from a different angle
less about composition
more about atmosphere.
You can almost feel the cold air in it.
That stillness that comes just after rain — and just before freeze.
Macro helps me find quiet scenes
even in the middle of motion.
